{Happy Weekend!}

I am headed home this weekend for some much needed r&r. This week flew by, and I am definitely looking forward to some down time. Not to mention, my dad's family is (most likely) getting a dog!
I'll take any of these, please!

We will most likely be adopting our dog from the SPCA, which is something I really love to do. It makes me so sad to think that people could ever be so cruel to animals. I would love to get a dog at my mom's house as well, but that question gets me a consistent no, so for right now it is still just me and Bullet, my crazy cat, who at times is more like a dog anyway.

He is very spoiled, he sleeps with his head on a pillow in my mom's bed.
He also gets presents for Christmas. But he is very cute, and for the most part well behaved. All of my friends compare me to a crazy cat lady though... oh well.

I am also excited to go home because I am finally going to start working on decorating my bedroom at my dad's house. They moved in over a year ago, and I just haven't had the time to really buckle down and decorate. Here are some images I am taking inspiration from:

I have a black wrought iron bed, so I am planning to soften it up with some white, gauzy accent curtains. My room is green, so I am definitely going to go for a cozy garden feel, with many botanical and butterfly prints. I really want the room to feel very personal, but with many of the walls being eves or angled, and therefore not able to have pictures hung on them, what wall space is available will be hung with gallery-style pictures; a mix of personal photos, prints, and memorabilia. I am very excited as this is my first real "interior design" undertaking.

I'm looking forward to a weekend of shopping and searching for the perfect items for my room, both in stores and online, and hopefully playing with a new dog! Have a good weekend everyone, I'll post pictures as soon as I have some good ones!

  1. We have a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel like that third dog picture and she is amazing. They are a great breed, really quiet and snuggly. All they wants is to be hugged and lick you 12 hours out of the day. Then they sleep the other 12. Not too bad.

  2. I should have you talk to my mom, I have been trying to convince her for YEARS to get one!

  3. Rescuing animals from the SPCA is so fulfilling. We got my dog, Penney, 2 years ago and she is like a furry and wild sister to me now. Petfinder.com is a great place to search for pets to rescue.

  4. I know, Alicia. My first two cats (RIP) were adopted from the SPCA, the second one being a much older cat who was soon to be put to sleep. I have always been a big fan of it, as has my family. I have visited petfinder.com before but wasn't sure if it is reliable, do you know people who have had success with it?

  5. I rescued a dog this summer...not from the ASPCA, but the Bronx streets (she was tied to a fence, skin and bones, with a note that read "my name is 50 cent"). It is the best thing I have ever done, even though I did not have any sort of plan that day in adopting a random abandoned dog. I'm a total sucker though and have a feeling she won't be the first pet I "rescue." (I tried to take in a kitten a few months later that was wandering about inside my apt. building for two weeks, but was told I needed to draw the line at a dog. For now.)

    My dog's the best, most well-behaved, cuddly, loving, beautiful dog I have ever met (ok ok I'm biased) and I think I will always adopt from now on.

    Anyways, that's just my little side story that your post made me think of!.

    Ps. She also sleeps with her head on a pillow and tucked into a blanket in my bed on a regular basis. Total Princess.

  6. I passed a kitten at that random "pet receiving center" on the way to the Metro to go to work one day, if I didn't have to be at work I totally would have brought it back with me, aka to my boyfriend's apartment haha. I'm still trying to convince him to get a dog, so that I can spoil it so it will like me more :)
