{The shape of things to come}

As mentioned in an earlier post, I am ready for warmer weather, mostly because I am tired of my current wardrobe. (Though I am sure that when fashion week starts next Thursday and all of the AW 2010 clothes come out I will go right back to wishing it was October, but I digress.)

Now that I am *thankfully* beyond the age of Abercrombie & Fitch cutoff jean shorts, I prefer my vintage Levi's these days, and tight tank tops, billowing tops or sailor striped shirts are more my thing anyway, as my spring and summer staples, dressing for warmer weather has a whole new meaning.

The SS 2010 runways saw a slight departure from the short dresses, ruggedness, and exaggerated shoulders that had seemed to rule the runway for the past few seasons. Though those looks were still present, the ones that really caught my eye were looks with a definitely 70's vibe, mixed with a little boho-and-boudoir chic, as well as an understated elegance.

I can't wait to get my hands on lovely, looser fitting pieces. Both to layer together for an all-out flowing look, or to mix with my staples, like the striped shirts mentioned above, to make the look my own.

Model Anja Rubik photographed by Tommy Ton. How awesome is that dress? I can see an outfit like this working for all seasons, with the right fabrics and colors, of course. I had the pleasure of working with Anja and her boyfriend for Vogue's February issue in their Manhattan apartment - what sweethearts they were!

If I were a celeb and had to attend an awards show, this would be my pick.

Alexander Wang, SS'10

I am in LOVE with this hairstyle. Ironically, the idea of "controlled mess" is how my hair is most of the time anyway. I will definitely be rocking this look well into summer.

  1. I agree with your love for the Wang braid. I was utterly obsessed with it the second I saw it! So easy and perfect for spring/summer too.

  2. I know! I wear my hair in a braid all the time, I just have to perfect the perfect messy, side-swept bang that the models had.

  3. I would wear that Maria Grachvoga dress on my wedding day. i loveeeeee it! I also rocked that braided hairstyle all summer with my long hair that is no longer with us, but with a little girl suffering from alopecia :)

    Tom is hysterical. You could only see his highlighter eyeshadow and lipgloss because of the black light at the lax house.

    FFP meeting was very productive tonight! See ya soon! Hope you enjoy the extra snow day at home!!
